Enjoy an adventure-filled family getaway at this Waldport home, perched right on the bank of the beautiful Alsea River! Spend your mornings kayaking on the river, your afternoon sunbathing on the nearby sandy beach, and then take in the gorgeous views of the river and the Siuslaw National Forest beyond as you relax on the outdoor deck with a glass of wine.
With two bedrooms and two full baths, this nicely appointed vacation home makes a relaxing home base for your Oregon Coast retreat. The living room is sunny and bright, with a comfortable sofa and recliner sitting before the flat-screen cable TV with DVD player and a cozy old-fashioned wood stove. On rainy days, you can enjoy the river views through the sliding glass doors even as you curl up by the fire for a movie marathon!
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need to prepare meals throughout your stay: all the expected major appliances (including a dishwasher), microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, pots and pans, glassware, and plenty of dinnerware. All you need to bring is the food! The kitchen has a breakfast bar with a few stools, and the four-person dining table sits next to the wide picture windows overlooking the river. On nicer days, you might even choose to sit outside and dine al fresco!
The house has two spacious bedrooms, including a beautiful master suite with vaulted ceilings. The beautiful cherry bedroom set includes a luxurious queen bed with high-quality linens, and another set of sliding glass doors allows for a private entrance onto the deck and relaxing views of the river. The second bedroom has a full size bed, perfect for another couple or the kids. (new pictures coming soon) Both bathrooms have shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and there is even a washer/dryer provided so you can keep up with the wet bathing suits and hiking gear throughout your visit.
The house itself provides plenty of opportunity for outdoor recreation. A large grassy yard stretches right down to the river, where a private dock beckons you to sit with a fishing pole and while away the hours! Waldport has a few well-stocked outdoor shops with all the equipment you need to fully enjoy your weekend on the river.
Just across the river, the Siuslaw National Forest is full of hiking trails and scenic areas to explore (we suggest the old-growth forest trails in the Drift Creek Wilderness Area). Of course, the sandy beach at Waldport is less than five miles away, about a 10 minute drive, and offers miles of uncrowded sand ripe for beachcombing, kite flying, and sunbathing. The town of Waldport itself sits between you and the beach, and though small, it offers a few quality markets, restaurants, and pubs.
Newport, just half an hour north, will easily meet all of your shopping/dining/entertainment needs, with its Oregon Coast Aquarium, Rogue Brewery, and dozens of restaurants and antique stores. To the south, charming Yachats is home of the jaw-dropping Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, and a bit further lies Florence and its quirky Sea Lion Caves. This cozy riverfront cottage in Waldport is truly the ideal location for a family who wants to explore all the attractions of the central Oregon Coast, but have a peaceful and very comfortable place to call home at the end of each busy day!
