This beautiful ski-in cabin sits on the bank of a rushing stream on a large private lot. On one side it looks into a forest with old growth trees . On the other side, the view is of a sunny area with lodgepole pines and huckleberry bushes. It is in the Trillum Lake / Summit Meadow area, in a small settlement of homes, totally surrounded by national forest but close-in to Government Camp amenities. This is a place to enjoy peace and the natural world.

The location is a mecca for those who love cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and tranquility. In winter, there can be 12 compacted feet of snow on the ground burying the windows of two of the bedrooms in a sheet of white while the winter views from the main floor are spectacular.

In summer, sitting out on the covered porch, the sound of the stream is a joy to listen to. A quick walk takes you into Summit Meadow with its gorgeous flowers and one of the best views of Mt. Hood. There are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy the out of doors. For those that want to paddle or fish, the boat launch at Trillium Lake can be reached in ten minutes. Hiking trails provide access to spectacular country and gravel roads offer mountain biking opportunities.

Winter access is limited to skis or snowshoes. Most guests park in the parking lot across from the Timberline lodge cut-off and come in along the groomed ski /snowshoe trail that starts there. The cabin is 1 1/4 miles down the trail. The beginning of the trail down is steep, so many guests will want to snowshoe in.

Summer access is by vehicle after the forest service is satisfied that the road is adequately cleared of snow. The road in is also closed prior to the first major snowstorm. So guests coming in during the months of November through June need to be prepared to get in without a vehicle, although some years it is possible to get in during November and June. If you cannot drive in, you can access the cabin along a gorgeous trail through a deep, beautiful forest or walk down the peaceful closed road.

Once you reach the cabin, you will find a very comfortable home filled with beautifully finished wood and many interesting artifacts from the 100 some years that the Marshall family has enjoyed family-owned cabins in this area. This cabin, built in 1996, has a living room, kitchen and dining room that are open to each other, providing a nice venue, for relaxing and enjoying a fire in the wood stove.

The kitchen is well equipped and has counter space for several cooks. It looks out over the stream.

The master bedroom, with a queen bed, has a lovely view out over the stream and its cathedral ceiling gives it an airy feeling.

The two downstairs bedrooms (queen in one and a full plus a twin in the other) have very large windows and views out over the stream, until snow builds up too high to see out.

The loft area (leave the door open to heat) is a great place for kids. It has a queen, twin and full bed.

While, you may not want to use it, given the sense of tranquility and peace this home offers (it also has wifi, so you can stay connected, if you want to be). Please call us with questions you might have about this truly unique property.

**PLEASE NOTE**
This property is limited to no more than 6 adults and 4 children (12 or younger) as guests. There is a $10 per person per night fee for each guest beyond 4. A pet may also be permitted, but there will be a deposit and permission is required. There is a limit of 3 cars allowed when driving in is an option.

If you're looking for a quiet, secluded, woodsy cabin, this is the place. The cabin is set in a beautiful wooded area near Trillium Lake, perfect for xc skiing and snowshoeing. The home itself is gorgeous and has everything we needed in a remote home. This was my third trip to the Marshall Cabin and it definitely won't be my last.

The Marshall cabin is a beautiful house in a great setting. Coming during the winter with kids and food was pretty exhausting though. My wife and I are pretty fit and get outdoors quite a bit, but packing everything in and out was a bit much in the snow. If a group of 6-8 adults were able to divide up the food, it would have been much easier and worthwhile to relax in the secluded surroundings.
Once we were there though the house was very comfortable with all the necessities that you need and everything else well maintained in the home. It really was a beautiful setting, but the thought of the hike out was always in the back of our minds. I would recommend it if looking for something unique and are fully prepared for the workout that you'll get.

So, I set my expectations low for this trip since I decided we would go away for our first family snow weekend a few days before we would leave. The entire experience from start to finish was wonderful, and that's saying something since I started looking on Craigslist. Pricing was good, service was great, and the home was beyond all expectations! Suffice it to say, we are already planning our next trip back and I have already recommended friends and coworkers to Vacasa. I just hope I don't have to compete with them to get this home again!

We stayed at the Marshall cabin in August which is a fabulous time to be there. Loads of berries growing along the trails and on the property. The creek below the house was great fun for the 2, 2 year olds and the sound was lovely from the house. The house is clean, well organized and has everything you might need. The surrounding area is beautiful with all levels of hiking available and swimming at trillium or mirror Lakes is easy to get to. We thoroughly enjoyed the house and property and would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves heading to this area.

This was our fourth visit to the Mt. Hood area, but our first staying at the Marshall Cabin. Previous trips we have stayed at Timberline Lodge for a family reunion. This time, we opted for a cabin to allow us the freedom to cook and share more family time without the confines of the Lodge. We LOVED the Marshall Cabin. It was super clean and had everything we needed to cook full meals. The setting is beautiful, and access was doable on the gravel roads, even in a minivan. We especially loved the history of the cabin etc. that Mr. Marshall wrote. If we ever come back to Mt. Hood, we would definitely stay in this cabin again! Thanks so much to the Marshall Family for such an awesome experience!

We enjoyed staying at Marshall Cabin for the weekend. The bridge over the creek was a favorite hang out spot, as well as the campfire area next to the cabin, and morning coffee on the porch/deck! Beautiful cabin with everything needed to make a great get-a-way weekend memorable. The cabin history binder and photographs on the walls made us feel like extended family.

This place is not for everyone, as you need to pack all of your stuff in and out due to the 1.5 mile ski in. But, if you are up for it (it was not hard at all-we managed with 3-3 year olds in tow) it is the PERFECT get away. Far enough away from it all that you feel completely disconnected, but close enough in that it is still conventient. We want to turn it into an annual trip. We LOVED it!!! And Vacasa was great to work with.

We loved the snowshoe in and out of this cabin. The setting in the cabin was wonderful. Plenty of room for us. And plenty of rooms and bed for everybody. Beautiful location right next to the creek. Because of the ski or snowshoe in and out the cabin is loaded with everything you need. Just bring a couple of pairs of cloths and some food and your set. We will be staying here again in the future. Thanks
