Welcome to the Hood: Mount Hood. And this is no ordinary neighborhood. Frommer's Guide has dubbed these condos at Collins Lake "...by far the most luxurious and spacious accommodations on Mount Hood." Nestled at the base of the mountain, Mount Hood's majestic peak looms large over this beautiful chalet. And to the south you'll see not just any Tom, Dick, and Harry, but three grand peaks with the same names. This is the Mount Hood corridor at its stunning best, and when you stay at this beautiful chalet, you'll be close to all the fun and activities that Government Camp and Mount Hood has to offer, no matter what time of year.
With the cars safely tucked away in the extra-wide, double-deep garage, your first chore in the morning won't be brushing off the snow. It's big enough for your equipment too! Relax, turn on the gas fireplace with the beautiful stone facade, make a bowl of popcorn, dig out one of those DVDs you brought along, and enjoy it in high-def on the new 42 inch TV. Watch your favorite show on cable TV, or just listen to a CD or the stereo. But be prepared: once you're buried in the comfort of these plush new chairs, it'll be hard to get up; except, maybe, for dinner.
Speaking of dinner (or breakfast or lunch, for that matter), meals will be a breeze for the designated chef in this modern kitchen with stainless-steel appliances. Get the flame just the right height on the gas range. Serve up your meal around the big wooden dining table with room for six (and two more at the bar). The dishwasher and granite countertops make for easy clean up. If you feel like letting someone else cook, there are four restaurants in Government Camp where you can get everything from tacos, to doughnuts, to prime rib.
At bedtime, Chalet #138 will accommodate eight weary vacationers. The upper level has two full bathrooms and two bedrooms, one with a king bed, and one with a queen. Kids can head up to the loft where they'll find not only a futon, but a TV with a DVD player, a VCR, and an Xbox - all the fun things that'll make Mom and Dad say, "turn it off and go to sleep!"(No trips to the laundromat here, either. The unit has a washer and dryer.)
Stay at Chalet #138, and you'll also have access to the Creekside Lodge. Bring a towel and slide into one of the two hot tubs, the sauna, or take a dip in the year-round outdoor pool. (Pool decks are heated to melt the snow.) Grab a book or your laptop (free WIFI in the lodge, but not all units have it) and stay dry and cozy in the gorgeous clubhouse with its rustic lodge décor including a floor to ceiling fireplace with stone façade. The Collins Lake condos are, of course, a perfect place for skiers. Skibowl is just three minutes away! Or, make the 17 minute trip around the eastern side of Mount Hood and take advantage of the Vacasa special at Mount Hood Meadows.
Summer is great too! Along with the usual summer things - hiking, fishing, kayaking, rafting, and biking - there are lots of activities especially for the kids, like kiddy karts, kiddy canoe, mini golf, and interpretive trail hikes.
So, come over to the Hood. Chalet #138 is waiting to give you great vacation memories any time of the year!
