Forget, for now, that you're a golfer. Forget too that right out the back door is a fairway of one of the best golf courses in Oregon. Now imagine the links covered with snow in winter, and leaves in the fall. Whether your ideal getaway involves clubs, kayaks, or simply hikes in a wooded expanse, Resort on the Mountain in Welches is a great place to stay. Let this beautiful, spacious three bedroom home be your vacation headquarters in any season.
There's plenty of room and lots of comfy chairs for everyone in the big living room. Listen to a CD or slip a movie into the DVD player, but be warned: one of the walls is lined, top to bottom, with windows, so your eyes are always drawn to the beautiful landscaping and the golfers on the links. After a hard day swinging, paddling, skiing and/or walking, slip into the warm, bubbly splendor of the hot tub and rest those fun-weary bones.
Whispering Woods has a first-class, well-appointed kitchen with elegant tile countertops, dishwasher, and a big double-door fridge. On hot days, draw a cool glass of water from the dispenser in the door. The dining table seats four comfortably. When it's nice outside, take your meal out on the deck and enjoy it at the picnic table under the umbrella. If you want to eat out, finding a place shouldn't be hard. Step out for haute cuisine at the beautiful Altitude Restaurant (part of the Resort on the Mountain complex), or choose from one of 12 other restaurants around Welches that cater to every taste.
There are three bedrooms in this home, each with a queen bed. Two full bathrooms make getting ready easy and quick for everyone. (The decorating job - especially the tile - in one of the bathrooms was obviously a labor of love!)
The mountain is loaded with activities! Along with the 27-hole championship golf course and 18-hole putting course at Resort at the Mountain, Eagle Creek Golf Course is about a half-hour away and Springwater Golf Course, in Estacada, is about 45. If you've come to ski, you're just 15 minutes from Skibowl and Summit Meadows, and 30 minutes from Mount Hood Meadows. And don't forget, Mount Hood National Forest is sixty square miles of hiking, biking, fishing, and everything you think of when you hear the word "summer." Whenever you come to Whispering Woods, you're in for much more than golf!
