While much of Mosier's economy has traditionally been linked to the myriad fruit orchards in the area, its proximity to the magnificent Columbia River has increasingly made it a go-to destination for water-oriented sports like wind surfing, paragliding, sailing, and fishing. But in Mosier, fun and excitement abound on both sides of the water's edge! A key local attraction is the Mosier Twin Tunnels State Park, a pedestrian and bicycle route through two historic tunnels along the Columbia River Scenic Highway just west of town. This five-mile route connects Mosier with the nearby city of Hood River which, by car, is just 6 minutes away. It's worth the drive! Hood River is a gateway to all the attractions and activities that come with the natural beauty and abundance of the Columbia Gorge. There are 71 restaurants in and around Hood River. There are also tons of shops and boutiques where you can buy that perfect souvenir, clothing, or outdoor equipment. Visit one of the many orchards in the area and pick your own world-renowned pears and apples. Or, check out one of the 19 wineries in the area and experience the sun-soaked, Columbia Gorge grape.
