If you want to get away from it all on the Northern Oregon Coast, there's no better place than Gearhart. This sleepy resort town boasts one of the state's most beautiful stretches of unspoiled beach, with wildflowers and grassy dunes giving way to white sand and crashing waves. The town is mostly residential, with a large number of vacation homes, but a charming strip of downtown retail offers all the amenities a visitor could want: an old-fashioned grocery store, a lovely bakery and cafe, antique shops, and a glass-blowing studio.
