The cottage is right on the beautiful stretch of sandy beach in Oceanside, which is a wonderfully uncrowded coastal town tucked away from all the bustle of Highway 101. Despite its peaceful 'get-away-from-it-all' atmosphere, the town still offers a few fantastic local cafes and restaurants, all within mere blocks of your front door. This home sits right on the sand near beautiful Maxwell Mountain and across from the spectacular Three Rocks National Wildlife Refuge.

The home sits on a short cliff, giving it wonderful views while still only a short flat walk to the public beach access just two houses down. With its open layout, the cottage makes the most of its amazing views of the Pacific. Watch the waves roll in as you curl up by the fire in the living room, or take in a movie on the cable TV with a DVD player.

The eat-in kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need to prepare meals, from the Jenn-Air range to a dishwasher for easy cleanup. The cabinets are full of pots and pans, baking dishes, serveware, wine glasses, and dinnerware for eight guests. Small appliances like a blender and electric mixer make this kitchen the perfect spot to try out a new recipe.

At bedtime, choose from three charmingly furnished bedrooms. The lower level has a master bedroom with queen bed, and the full bath just outside its door has a tub/shower combo.

Upstairs, the second bedroom has a queen bed and a spacious window seat overlooking the southern shoreline.

The third bedroom has two full-size beds tucked under a cozy sloping ceiling. Each upstairs bedroom includes an en-suite pedestal sink for guests' convenience, and at the bottom of the staircase is a second full bath with walk-in shower. Altogether, the home sleeps eight guests.

In the summer, head out to the large wraparound deck for a delightfully lazy afternoon with a good book. Take in a breathtaking sunset or watch for whales, which are known to pass by this section of the Coast during their yearly migrations. The Three Arch Rocks Wildlife Refuge keeps the sky filled with thousands of graceful seabirds, and you can even keep an eye on children and teens playing on the beach below as you relax on the deck.

Wintertime brings sensational storm watching and one of the most peaceful beaches you'll ever encounter; just zip up your jacket and bring along a pail for the gorgeous seashells you'll have all to yourself.

The surrounding area is rich with natural beauty and often uncrowded, although Oceanside sits along the Three Capes Scenic Loop driving tour. Just to the north sits Cape Meares with its historic lighthouse, and to the south await the lovely towns of Netarts and Pacific City. Stop at the award-winning Pelican Pub and Brewery before climbing the dunes at Cape Kiwanda.

Oceanside herself offers the excellent Brewin' in the Wind coffeehouse and seasonal dishes at Roseanna's Cafe. There are nearly endless hikes in the surrounding state parks, chances to try your hand at clamming, crabbing, or fishing for steelhead and salmon in the nearby bays and rivers, and of course the famous cheese factory with its wonderful samples in Tillamook, just twenty minutes away. There are two supermarkets there for groceries as well.
