Squaw Valley Classic 1512 Sandy Way, Squaw Valley, CA 96146

This Squaw Valley Classic vacation rental with room for 13 is nestled on the hillside overlooking the heart of Squaw Valley and just 2 minutes from the slopes.

Only seven minutes to Lake Tahoe and nestled in a unique mountain and valley setting, you'll have access to endless opportunities to explore bike paths, hiking, horse back riding, rafting, and golfing to name a few. Combined with incredible views of the valley, mountain, and village, and access to fantastic shopping and eateries, this rustic home is sure to make a big impression.

You will be transported back to the '70's in this original Squaw home, Throw another log on the fire crackling in the floor-to-ceiling fireplace with its rugged stone facade and you'll feel a true mountain lodge experience. Make sure to bring along some of your favorite CDs and pack a couple DVDs as well - you'll be able to enjoy both. Or, catch your favorite show on the cable TV. And if you're someone who can't be untethered to your e-mail for long, then boot up the laptop and use the free WIFI. Weather permitting, step through the big French doors onto the upper deck where you can lounge on cushioned chairs. Try your barbeque skills on the charcoal grill and enjoy it around the picnic table in full view of Squaw Valley vistas. There's even a hammock for really serious relaxation. And that's just the upper level! Downstairs is another porch where you can savor the same view from the bubbly luxury of the eight-person hot tub.

When you're hungry and you're eating in (there are six great eateries right in Squaw Valley), this kitchen can handle it. With its wood floor and wood-paneled accents that characterize the whole home, the kitchen has everything you need to satisfy any appetite. You'll not only find a dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker and grinder, all the pots, pans, silverware, glasses, mugs, china, and utensils you may need, there's also a popcorn maker and fondue sets! Dip another meatball in the cheese as you huddle around the dining table.

After a long day of skiing, hiking or adventuring, get a good night's sleep in one of Squaw Valley Classic's three bedrooms. There's a double bed in one, and two others, each with a queen bed, and a bunk. For that extra guest, there's a folding bed as well. Two full bathrooms make it easy to clean up for meals, for bed, or to get ready for another day of activities.

To say Squaw Valley is a great place for skiing is an understatement. Designed after European resorts that place pools, lodging, and dining at the summit of a mountain, you can take the aerial tramway 8,200 feet to High Camp and enjoy dining, swimming in the heated pool, and a spectacular view of the surrounding peaks. Then, descend to Squaw Valley Village with its great shopping, and dining. Between Squaw and its neighbor, Alpine Meadows (just seven miles south), there are 5,000 acres, 32 lifts, and 6 parks.

On the other side of the Valley, the Resort at Squaw Creek offers a full-service spa, cross-country skiing, and the Robert Trent Jones Jr. golf course that snakes around the Valley floor and Squaw Creek itself. Summer is even better! Take the two adult bikes provided down the paved bike path that runs from Squaw Valley to Tahoe City. July in Squaw Valley hosts the Wanderlust Festival, bringing accomplished yogis to the resort along with well-known musical performers. No matter what season, make this beautiful lodge your home base during your stay in beautiful Squaw Valley.

I would rate this as 3 out of 5 stars for the failure of the sleeping arrangements. The living room with fireplace and wood provided was great. The kitchen and dining areas marginal - all cupboards are full or locked - no room for food stuff. The hot tub was good.
